Georgia hasn’t won a national championship since 1980. Maybe that will soon change, though.

The Bulldogs are currently the No. 2 team in the country and have gotten off to an impressive 4-0 start. And because of that, ESPN’s Rece Davis believes this could be a special season for the program.

“I think that you’re going to see Georgia’s offense continue to grow, become more explosive, even more efficient,” Davis told UGASports.com this week. “When you pair it with that defense, this could be the year that Georgia wins the national championship, there’s no question about that.”

Through 4 games, the Bulldogs have allowed only 23 total points, as they’ve notched victories over Clemson, UAB, South Carolina and Vanderbilt. But there are still some things that Davis would like to see Georgia do better to reach the next level.

Among those potential improvements is an aspect of redshirt junior quarterback JT Daniels’ game.

“I’d like to see him be a little more aggressive, but I do think it’s smart he takes care of the ball and played complementary football,” Davis said. “You don’t want to give the other side good field position and easy scores when you’ve got a defense like you have. But he also has the ability to be aggressive, and I’d like to see him continue to do that and I think he will.

“I know it’s a different level of competition, but maybe ol’ Stetson [Bennett] coming in there and putting up Madden and NCAA 14 numbers might inspire you to look for the big shot a little bit more. But I think JT’s a really good quarterback, I think he’s certainly developed a good chemistry with young tight ends.”

Georgia will look to keep rolling when it hosts No. 8 Arkansas on Saturday at noon ET on ESPN.
