A former assistant for Georgia under head coach Mark Richt is now the offensive coordinator for the Dallas Cowboys.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Brian Schottenheimer has been hired as the new OC for the Cowboys. Schottenheimer served as the OC and QBs coach for the Bulldogs in 2015 under Richt before Richt’s eventual firing.

Schottenheimer has not been an OC since the end of the 2020 season with the Seattle Seahawks.

Georgia did go 10-3 in the 2015 season, but it was hardly thanks to the offense. Schottenheimer’s offense averaged 26.3 points per game (85th nationally) that season while rotating Greyson Lambert, Brice Ramsey and Faton Bauta at quarterback.

Schottenheimer has made a number of stops as an OC in the NFL, most recently serving as the OC for the Seahawks from 2018-20. Since then, he has been the passing game coordinator for the Jacksonville Jaguars (2021) and was a coaching analyst for the Cowboys in 2022.
