Former Georgia tight end Brock Bowers has finally scored his first NFL touchdown.

The former Georgia Bulldog star has been a reliable weapon already, but he had yet to find the endzone. That changed almost immediately in Week 5, as the rookie caught a pass and took it 57 yards to the house to put the Las Vegas Raiders up 7-0.

Quarterback Gardner Minshew was facing heavy pressure and just lobbed the ball down the field in Bowers’ direction. The rookie leaped for the ball over a Broncos defender and turned to race toward the end zone.

Coming into Week 5, Bowers already led the Raiders in receptions and receiving yards with 20 catches for 216 yards.

Bowers has high expectations as a rookie. The Georgia product was taken with the 13th-overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, which is a high slot to take a TE in today’s NFL.

However, Bowers was seen as an elite TE prospect after a sensational college career. Bowers recorded 175 receptions for 2,538 yards and 26 TDs as a Bulldog and won 2 College Football Playoff National Championships, 2 John Mackey Awards, and was a unanimous All-American in his final season in Athens.

The Raiders have been inconsistent in Bowers’ rookie season. The team is sitting at 2-2 overall with a 0-1 start in conference play. A win over the rival Broncos on Sunday, however, would put the team right back in the race.

Bowers’ Raiders are currently leading the Broncos 10-0 at the beginning of the 2nd quarter. Bowers has 3 catches for 61 yards, including the 57-yard TD.
