CBS college football analyst Gary Danielson is capable of shooting straight when dissecting teams across the SEC. This year, Danielson joined one of the hotter debates of the season: strength of schedule.

“The only question I have about both teams is their schedule,” Danielson said on The Opening Kickoff on WNSP-FM 105.5, according to AL.com. “The SEC East is just a hot mess. If you look at Georgia’s schedule closely, you got Notre Dame and who else? The same for Alabama.”

Danielson admitted that Alabama’s record gets considerably tougher during the home stretch of the season, and that injuries have surfaced for Alabama. Against LSU, the Tigers proved, “up front, (Alabama) can be played with physically. It’s a jump ball.”

From a big picture perspective, Danielson said the SEC would be represented in the College Football Playoff because Georgia and Alabama are Nos. 1 and 2 and Auburn has a chance to beat both of them.

“It’s very difficult to do, to beat a top-level team twice.”

The analyst sees the CFP teams coming from the current top 10.

“I think the three SEC teams control their own destiny: Georgia (No. 1), Alabama (No. 2), Auburn (No. 10),” he explained. “I actually believe Miami and Clemson control their own destiny. If Miami wins out, they will have beat Notre Dame and Clemson. They will be in the Final Four. I think if Clemson wins out, they’ll be in the Final Four.”
