Georgia game-by-game predictions: ESPN's FPI projects Bulldogs' 2022 season
Georgia won the national title in 2021, riding a dominant defense to an undefeated regular season. The only loss in the Bulldogs’ entire campaign was in the SEC Championship Game against Alabama.
So, what will happen in 2022? Will the Bulldogs be able to go undefeated in the regular season once again? Or, will there be a slip-up?
Well, if you look at ESPN’s Football Power Index (FPI), it looks like another dominant season is in store for Kirby Smart and company. The FPI projections for each of Georgia’s regular-season matchups have the Dawgs heavily favored in each game.
As you can see below, the Bulldogs are given at least an 83% chance to win every game, with the lowest chance of winning coming on Nov. 19 at Kentucky:
- Sept. 3 vs. Oregon (in Atlanta): 91.5% chance of winning
- Sept. 10 vs. Samford: 99.9% chance of winning
- Sept. 17 at South Carolina: 92.1% chance of winning
- Sept. 24 vs. Kent State: 99.4% chance of winning
- Oct. 1 at Mizzou: 94.1% chance of winning
- Oct. 8 vs. Auburn: 88.7% chance of winning
- Oct. 15 vs. Vanderbilt: 99.2% chance of winning
- Oct. 29 vs. Florida (in Jacksonville): 90.4% chance of winning
- Nov. 5 vs. Tennessee: 92.6% chance of winning
- Nov. 12 at Mississippi State: 85.6% chance of winning
- Nov. 19 at Kentucky: 83.3% chance of winning
- Nov. 26 vs. Georgia Tech: 97.7% chance of winning
The Bulldogs are also given a 20.9% chance of winning out, which is second only to Ohio State in the FBS ranks.
It seems the Dawgs will be heavily favored to make another trip to Atlanta for the SEC Championship Game. Can Smart lead this squad back to the College Football Playoff?
UGA should be favored to win every game at this point. The only thing I could see changing that at all would be injuries. Talent-wise, they have a significant advantage over every team on their schedule.
Well said .. no reason to think uga won’t be undefeated going into the sec title game .
Ok you two Gators…. I am walking around burning sage. You’re trying to jinx the Dawgs. lol
Seriously, we all know you can’t take any game in the SEC (almost) for granted. It is nice to see those power rankings. Doesn’t mean much unless you play the games.
LOl. You got me! Actually, though, Kirby has done a good job over the years of making sure his team is ready to play, so that factors into my prediction. You are right, though. You have to play the games, and sometimes these young guys do get distracted.
That game @ MSU is the one I’m most worried about.
I would agree. Leach is always a challenge to prepare for. MSU will pull an upset against someone this year.
I worry about almost all of them tbh.
Don’t tell Gwhite but according to this Florida has a better chance of beating UGA than Tenn with that best in the world offense
Yep
Saban has already declared 2022 another rebuilding year so UGA should be GTG
Georgia should never be behind Ohio state in any way shape form or fashion!!!! Ohio state ain’t going unbeaten!!!!
Ryan Day is Dan Mullen with a beard!!!!! Except for recruiting!!! The time will come when recruits will realize who he is and stop signing with him!!!

Even if that were true… does it matter? Pre-season projections… pre-season All SEC… pre-season All-American… pre-season polls…
Does any of it matter? Or is it just filler?
Not entirely true… BooHoo Bama hasn’t had their tee fetcher jamb a finger yet, so that declaration hasn’t been made publicly.

Wow, just wow! You really are special and not the good kind. You and 2008 should just go away together. I figured that is what people with split personalities do.
“Except for recruiting”
Well… doesn’t that mean is IS NOT Dan Mullen?
One game at a time, fellas. The only thing that matters is the next game. Last year doesn’t matter. Next year doesn’t matter. The game against Samford doesn’t matter. All that matters is Oregon.
