Georgia lands commitment from graduate transfer from Mercer
The Georgia Bulldogs will be losing long-snapper Nick Moore to graduation after the season, but they’ve already found an experienced replacement.
On Tuesday, Mercer long-snapper Steven Nixon announced that he’d be heading to Athens to play for the Dawgs next season.
As you can see below, Nixon announced his graduate-transfer decision via Twitter on Tuesday night:
So thankful for everyone that had a hand in these past 4 years. Sad that the Mercer chapter has closed, but super excited for the University of Georgia chapter to begin. One last ride in the red and black! pic.twitter.com/wGpQYAdJpJ

Long snappers often don’t get the credit they deserve, and adding an experienced guy like Nixon is a sneaky-good decision from coach Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs.
Now, they won’t have to rely on an untested freshman to handle the snaps, and that should keep the Georgia special-teams units humming along nicely.
