Georgia offensive lineman and recruiting staffer die in car accident
Georgia OL Devin Willock has passed away at the age of 20 after a single-car accident on Sunday morning.
Georgia recruiting staffer Chandler LeCroy, 24, also died due to injuries sustained when the vehicle left the road and struck 2 power poles and some trees.
The Athens-Clarke County Police Department issued a statement on the accident (via Rivals.com):
“On January 15, 2023, at approximately 2:45AM, ACCPD responded to a single-vehicle crash in the 900 block of Barnett Shoals Road. Initial investigation indicates that a 2021 Ford Expedition was traveling southbound in the outside lane of Barnett Shoals Road when the vehicle left the roadway, striking two power poles and several trees. A passenger, Devin Willock, 20, died at the scene as a result of his injuries. The driver, Chandler LeCroy, 24, was transported by EMS to a local hospital where she died as a result of her injuries. A 21-year-old male passenger sustained minor injuries and a 26-year-old female passenger sustained serious injuries. The investigation remains ongoing. Georgia OL Warren McClendon was the 21-year-old who suffered minor injuries. He has reportedly been released from the hospital. The 26-year-old female was another Georgia recruiting staffer, per Rivals’ report.
Willock was a member of Georgia’s 2020 recruiting class out of New Jersey. He played in 13 games in 2022, including making starts at right guard against Tennessee and Kentucky.
