The Bulldogs now have two losses on the season but Georgia appears to be one of the top four teams in the nation heading into the postseason. So which matters more, resume or overall talent and ability to win a national title?

That’s a question the College Football Playoff Committee will have to answer by Noon ET on Sunday — when their selections are made public. Does Georgia deserve to get into the field after being the only team in the nation that has gone toe-to-toe with Alabama, the No. 1 team in the nation, this season?

Or should the final Playoff spot go to a team that’s won its conference title?

Alabama and Notre Dame seemingly have already locked up their spots, and with a win in the ACC Championship Game, Clemson will have locked up another. That would leave one spot for potential Big Ten champ Ohio State, Big 12 champ Oklahoma and SEC runner-up, Georgia.

After falling to Alabama 35-28 in the 2018 SEC Championship Game, Kirby Smart pleaded the case for his squad to make the Playoff.

“Well, it boils down to one thing. Do you want the four best teams in or not? It’s that simple,” Smart said. “They sat at home last year and got to go in the game while everybody else is beating each other up, and they had a good football team. Give that coach across the sideline a vote who he doesn’t want to play. He’ll start with us. I promise you, you don’t want to play us. It’s not our decision. It’s their decision. But you’re going to put the four best football teams in.”

Two of UGA’s players, Jonathan Ledbetter and Jake Fromm, were asked to share their thoughts on the subject alongside their coach.

“I support my coach,” Ledbetter offered up. “We worked hard. We’re here. We showed up, and we played. They beat us in the end. You can’t say we didn’t go out there and fight. You can’t say we didn’t put it all on the line. You can’t say we’re not one of the best teams in college football. Just watch the tape. If they watch it, they should put it in.”

That’s a pretty clear declaration of his feelings on the subject. Georgia’s quarterback wasn’t willing to go that far, however.

“I mean, really what these two guys have said, you know, it’s really not for me to decide,” Fromm said. “That’s for (the CFP Committee) to decide. I thought we played our butts off today and we can only control what we can control.”

What do you think? Should Georgia get into the College Football Playoff with an 11-2 record?
