Georgia warming up to plans for indoor practice facility
A report yesterday by the Athens Banner-Herald notes an indoor practice facility will be on the agenda to discuss at the next athletic board meeting, scheduled to be held in September.
It may come as a shock to you that one of the top-tier programs in the SEC doesn’t have an indoor field. Athletic director Greg McGarity says it’s always been the elephant in the room. “Everybody keeps asking about the indoor facility,” McGarity told the Banner-Herald.
Though the cost has been estimated at around $15 million, McGarity also said the price tag isn’t yet known and no work regarding fundraising or planning has been done.
Facilities have become a major part of college football programs in recent years. Indoor practice facilities are almost a given at any Power Five conference school, and most of them are immaculate.
