Jacksonville Mayor Lenny Curry announced on Friday that the “World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party,” an annual SEC East showdown between the Florida Gators and Georgia Bulldogs, will remain in the city through the 2023 season, with an option to extend the contract through 2025.

The Bulldogs would like to make a slight change to the traditional operating procedure, however. Athletic director Greg McGarity announced the school plans to introduce legislation at the May 2020 SEC Spring Meetings in Destin, Florida allowing programs to host recruits at neutral site conference games.

Presently, schools are allowed to leave tickets for prospects at neutral site games, but recruits must sit in the stands with those tickets. Georgia’s planned proposal would allow the designated home team to host recruits on a rotating basis.

Anthony Dasher, Managing Editor for UGASports.com, shared further details on Twitter:

“This wouldn’t take the place of on-campus visiting, but perhaps it would be something where we could have a host tent and see if something like that could work,” McGarity hypothesized.

“Again, it wouldn’t replace the on-campus visit, but still allow each school to host recruits at the game.”

Using Georgia’s official records, these two programs have met 97 times dating back to 1904. With the Bulldogs leading the series 52-43-2, the 2019 edition of the rivalry will take place on November 2.

Both programs are idle on Saturday.
