Georgia wins recruiting battle for 4-star CB, elite in-state prospect

Georgia just added a major piece to its 2025 recruiting class.

The Bulldogs earned a commitment from 4-star cornerback Jontae Gilbert on Saturday afternoon. An Atlanta native, Gilbert also had offers from programs like Oregon, NC State, Georgia Tech and more.

Gilbert is a massive addition for UGA in this class. He’s the No. 141 overall prospect and the No. 17 cornerback in the country for the class of 2025, per 247Sports Composite rankings. He’s also the No. 18 player from the state of Georgia.

Gilbert attends Douglass High School in Atlanta. He’s listed at 6-foot-1, 185 pounds.

Georgia is putting together an elite class in 2025. The Bulldogs now have 23 commitments in this cycle, including 5 from defensive backs. Gilbert is also the 14th in-state prospect to commit to UGA so far in this class. Overall, the group sits at No. 3 nationally, per 247Sports Composite rankings.
