Georgia is favored to beat Notre Dame by double digits on Saturday night in Athens. Sportsbooks have the Bulldogs as 14- or 15-point favorites (depending on the book) and ESPN’s SP+ projects a 36-23 outcome in UGA’s favor, but Kirby Smart’s squad still has to take care of business on the field to count the game as a W. Hershel Walker shared his key to making sure that happens.

“I think what they’ve got to do now is show the reason (UGA) is called ‘Running Back U,’ Walker told Dawgs247’s Jake Rowe during Coca Cola’s “Return the Flavor’ event at the College Football Hall of Fame on Thursday night. “Because you don’t want to get into a passing game against Notre Dame. They’ve got a great passing team. They’ve got a big group. They can do some amazing things. What you’ve got to do is now it’s time to show the reason we’re called ‘Running Back U.’ Let’s control the ball. I always say you want to control the ball, that’s when you can win football games and that’s what I think we’ve got to do on Saturday.”

One of the sports all-time greatest running backs advocating that his alma mater run the ball might get an eye-roll from some, but it’s hard to argue against trusting the ground game when UGA has another backfield loaded with multiple talented ball-carriers ready to run wild on a less-than-dominant defense. In two games against Louisville and New Mexico, Notre Dame has allowed 461 yards on 93 rushes (4.96 yards per rush). With the Fighting Irish already giving up nearly five yards a carry, it could be a big night for D’Andre Swift, Zamir White and company.
