Georgia and Notre Dame squared off in one of the most hyped games coming into this season on Saturday, and the media was still asking Bulldogs coach Kirby Smart about it four days later.

During his Wednesday press conference, Smart again discussed the importance of Georgia’s atmosphere and the home-field advantage they provided the Bulldogs on Saturday. Smart said the crowd’s “electricity was awesome” and even though he admitted not every game can be against a high-quality opponent because teams wouldn’t survive, the fan experience from matchups like those make his program “want more of them.”

Georgia and Notre Dame played their first game of the home-and-home series at South Bend in 2017. The Bulldogs also won that matchup, but it was also a nail biter, as Georgia won, 20-19. Georgia beat Notre Dame on Saturday in Athens, 23-17.

Here’s what else Smart said during his press conference Wednesday:

  • On Tennessee’s team and the offense: I know all those guys very well… We have played against them for two or three years, have a lot of respect for those guys, been watching them since high school and a lot of them are good football players.
  • On nine conference games: Again, I leave the SEC office with that… they are looking at all the options looking forward.
  • On sticking to the running game against Notre Dame: I would say every body blow you give a team has its effect. over the last 3 years, the total effect of giving body blows has an effect, you can ask teams that have played us…
