The Georgia Bulldogs will attempt to rebound from the 37-10 SEC Championship Game loss to LSU by beating Baylor in the Sugar Bowl.

Last year, Texas beat UGA 28-21 in the same venue, and the Bulldogs are determined not to let that happen in back-to-back years. In fact, Georgia has lost four straight postseason games. So, Kirby Smart said UGA has a new slogan ahead of the Sugar Bowl — “This trip, this team and this game.”

“You’re going to hear this common theme probably among our players,” Smart said during his press conference. “For 11 practices, they’ve been hearing about this trip, this team and this game, and that’s really it. It’s a one game season for us. It’s a new season, and it’s a one-game season.”

UGA already knows it will be without offensive tackles Isaiah Wilson and Andrew Thomas, as both announced they would sit out the bowl game and prepare for the NFL Draft. Smart didn’t discuss the status of running back Brian Herrien or defensive tackle Tyler Clark.

The Bulldogs are currently a six-point favorite over Baylor.

In addition to discussing the Sugar Bowl, Smart offered condolences following the tragic death of ESPN’s Ed Aschoff.

“Before starting, I’d like to offer condolences to Ed Aschoff’s family,” Smart said. “The time you spend in this business, you get to know people. You get to be around them, and it was a major punch in my gut when I heard the news on Ed. It was just tragic. … I love what he did for our profession, and he truly was one of the best at what he did.”
