Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs dominated No. 1 Tennessee Saturday 27-13. The game wasn’t as close as the score may have indicated either.

Georgia jumped out to a 24-6 halftime lead and never looked back. Quarterback Stetson Bennett was nearly flawless. The Bulldogs signal caller completed 17-of-25 passes for 257 yards and 2 touchdowns. He also added a rushing touchdown in the first half.

The Bulldogs defense was dominant against Tennessee’s elite offense. Heisman leader Hendon Hooker threw for just 195 yards, no touchdowns and 1 interception. Georgia’s defense held Tennessee to just 2-of-14 on third downs and 289 total yards.

Georgia’s home crowd was instrumental in Saturday’s game by helping force Tennessee to commit 9 penalties for 55 yards.

Following the huge win, the Georgia head coach spoke with CBS Sports on the field.

On Georgia’s win …

“A bunch of kids that love this place. We took zero out of the portal. They all love it here. They competed their ass off. These fans are elite. I’m so proud for this university and these kids. They practiced their butt off for two weeks.”

On Georgia’s dominant defense …

“They played together. They stuck to the plan. And when you stick to the plan, you have a hell of a chance. No where to run, no where to hide. That was our theme. We told them we wanted to play them right in our box.”
