Kirby Smart shared an update on injured running back Branson Robinson during his post-practice media availability on Tuesday.
Robinson, who hasn’t played since Oct. 12, is starting to make progress toward a return, Smart said. However, Robinson has not yet begun taking full practice reps with the Bulldogs.
“He’s running. He’s started to cut yesterday,” Smart said. “He’s got good speed. He’s getting his confidence back running and cutting … He’s showing progress, but he is not, like, taking reps with us [yet].”
Georgia’s running back room has been banged up in recent weeks. In addition to Robinson’s injury, Trevor Etienne also missed Georgia’s most recent game against Tennessee with an injury.
The Bulldogs mostly relied on freshman Nate Frazier out of the backfield against Tennessee. He carried the ball 19 times for 68 yards and 1 touchdown in the win over the Vols.
Georgia is finished with SEC play for the year, but the Bulldogs do need to win out in order to secure a spot in the College Football Playoff. They will face UMass on Saturday before closing the regular season with Georgia Tech in Week 14.
