Kirby Smart was hired at Georgia to build a championship program, and now, the Bulldogs are the national champions for the first time since 1980.

That’s a fairytale story for a former Georgia player to deliver a title to his beloved program and to beat college football’s behemoth that lives in Tuscaloosa.

During his postgame press conference, Smart praised Georgia fans for traveling to Indianapolis for the game.

“But just Dawg Nation showing up here, the tremendous belief in this program, of our fan base,” Smart said, via ASAP Sports. “I mean, everywhere we went in Indianapolis we saw our people. Somebody told me it would be 60-40; it felt like 70-30.”

Then, however, he sent Georgia fans a message, telling them not to get spoiled.

“I just hope they remember this feeling and understand they don’t need to get spoiled, they need to stay hungry like these players,” Smart said.

While Georgia will lose some key pieces from this national title team, Smart has the program in prime position to replace those pieces quickly and efficiently. The Bulldogs aren’t going anywhere and neither is Alabama.

Georgia currently has the nation’s No. 3 overall recruiting class for the class of 2022, according to 247Sports.com.
