Kirby Smart’s Georgia Bulldogs escaped with another win on Saturday. This time, the Bulldogs defeated the in-state rival Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets to finish the regular season with a perfect 12-0 record.

The game was closer than many expected, with the Bulldogs winning 31-23. However, after the game, Smart was not upset.

“I’m not mad, I’m happy that we won the game,” Smart said to Molly McGrath on ABC. “I’m happy that I’ve got guys like (Kendall Milton) on my team. We enjoy the wins here. Because we love to win. We have great kids and great players that are so resilient and I’m so proud at what they do. This is one of the few times we get to enjoy that.”

Smart also praised Milton, who stepped up with 156 rushing yards and 2 TDs.

“Kendall’s stepped up all year. He plays really hard, he practices well, he’s one of our best leaders. I thought he did a great job today with yards after contact,” the coach said.

The win was the 29th-consecutive for the Bulldogs. Smart praised his prior teams and his current team for carrying on the “high standard of excellence.”

“A lot of guys did that (win game) before this group. This group’s carried that on, the high standard of excellence. They practice hard, they play physical. A lot of credit to Georgia Tech today, they did a great job. But our team played really hard and physical, great environment to play college football in.”

The Bulldogs will next take on the Alabama Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship Game.
