Kirby Smart liked how Georgia responded after the Bulldogs trailed South Carolina early and had a lackluster first half.
After the win over the Gamecocks, Smart spoke with Jenny Dell on CBS Sports.
“If you could just win one at a time, you’ve got a shot,” Smart said. “If you let the last one bother you, you’re going to be in trouble, and this guy (Carson Beck) didn’t do that today. He stood in there, played well …”
Smart said he learned that his players have “resiliency, they’ve got toughness, and they better get a lot better.”
For his part, Beck admitted that the game didn’t start as well as he planned, and the conditions were weird, but Georgia recovered enough to get the win.
“We kept our mentality, stayed composed, came out in the second half and I thought we really turned it up,” Beck said. “We came out the first drive, came down and scored and the defense started making plays, too. We know we feed off of his each other, if they’re down, we pick them up, if we’re down, they pick us up, so we’re feeding off of each other in football.”
