Kirby Smart liked what he saw from his team after another slow start, this time at Vanderbilt.
Georgia this season has started slow against South Carolina, Auburn and now in Nashville. Vanderbilt scored first, and then got a turnover on Georgia’s ensuing possession.
“We continue to have a little bit of up and downs, but I thought we responded well,” he said on CBS Sports. “Came out and really won what we call the middle 8 minutes of the game, last 4 and first 4. Offense put together a great drive. We’ve just got to score touchdowns.”
Smart also said Georgia has to hit more big plays, and can’t rely on continual 17- or 18-play drives.
Smart spoke about the Brock Bowers’ injury and other players who left the game, and his team’s response.
“They were great, we had a couple guys go down, they stood up, and rose up,” Smart said. “It’s been a long 7 weeks. So we’ve got a well-needed, much-needed off week coming.”
