Georgia could not have asked for a better start to Kirby Smart’s second season in Athens.

The Bulldogs opened as the No. 1 team in the initial rankings for the College Football Playoff Top 25, and they will likely maintain that ranking following their win over South Carolina. The Bulldogs were not quite as dominant as they had been in weeks prior, but they still did enough to beat the Gamecocks 24-10.

This week’s matchup against Auburn could be the last big roadblock for Georgia in the regular season. The Bulldogs have already secured the SEC East, but Knocking off the Tigers will give Smart and company an incredible shot at heading to Atlanta with an undefeated record.

Nevertheless, a road win at Auburn will take another strong performance. Georgia will look be perfect in its preparation leading up to the game, and Smart updated the status of suspended LB Natrez Patrick:

Patrick has missed the last four games after being suspended for a drug violation, but is eligible to return for the Auburn game. He had 17 tackles with half a tackle for loss in four games before his suspension.
