Kirk Herbstreit and the rest of ESPN’s college football crew were live with the latest College Football Playoff rankings revealed Tuesday night. That reveal was complete with Georgia jumping to No. 1, replacing Ohio State after the Buckeyes spent the last two weeks at No. 1.

While Ohio State most recently beat Michigan State 38-3, Georgia’s dominance was on display with a huge ranked win over Ole Miss. As a result, Herbstreit said he was not surprised by the change.

Most notably, Herbstreit says Georgia is finally healthy and starting to peak at the right time:

“No, I think the committee, one of the things they had to take into consideration not just with Joey and Greg mentioned beating a top-10 team in dominating fashion, but the big thing you really pull it back: They’re healthy,” said Herbstreit. “They’re peaking at the right time.

“Amarius Mims comes back at right tackle, he’s a first rounder. Makes a huge difference with that offensive line when it comes to pass protection and just mauling people at the line of scvrimmage. You saw what Kendall Milton is doing now with Edwards, they have a one-two punch that’s healthy. Ladd McConkey and Brock Bowers back, this is the Georgia team I think everybody envisioned them being and living up to that standard of the last couple of years. It’s a different kind of team. They don’t have those game-wreckers like Jalen Carter. But man, they are good and they are healthy and they are heading in a great direction.”
