The Georgia Bulldogs lost a heartbreaking 35-28 decision against Alabama in the SEC Championship Game on Saturday, watching as Jalen Hurts took over for injured Alabama QB Tua Tagovailoa and leading a dramatic comeback.
Though the loss may have been a painful one, Georgia’s independent student newspaper, The Red & Black, used that pain to create a perfect front page.
As you can see below, the front page is all black and just says “Everybody Hurts,” a pun on Jalen Hurts’ last name:

Georgia is going to a great bowl game, still, as the Bulldogs will be playing in the Sugar Bowl against a tough Texas squad.
We’ll see if coach Kirby Smart can rally his troops and come into the game in New Orleans strong on New Year’s Day.
Everybody Hurts is also an REM song.
^^This
Exactly. Seeing that REM is the single biggest band to come out of Athens, I think the headline is a play off of the REM song and not Jalen’s last name.
Orrrrr… stay with me here… it’s BOTH
It is so obviously this. Not sure how everyone else is confused
Sorry, Adam, you missed the mark. That headline doesn’t have anything to do with the AL Hurts. That’s a play on the REM song of the same name. I’m guessing you don’t know that REM got their start in Athens.
Are you sure after what Jalen “Hurts” did to GA last night…..LOLOL!!!
Don’t you mean what the refs and Kirby did? No PI or holding call against Bama and Kirby with the stupid fake field goal. Keep paying the refs.
There’s this little indie band from Athens called REM who also had a song called “Everybody Hurts”. I wonder if it’s a play on that as well??
I don’t see the hilarity in the headline.
But Bama fans do.
You know UGA is going to hammer your ass again next year, right?
Don’t you have to hammer once before you can do it again? You do know that UGA is the national runner up last year and SEC runner up this yea, right?
He’s talking about Tennessee
LOLOLOL!!!
RTR!!!
I don’t think most college students know REM and that it would make sense in that context. I do think college students are clever and it refers to Jalen. Pretty sure it’s a play on words and not about a band from the 80”s.
It’s about both…
You are correct about the Tennessee remark. Reading is fundamental. Thanks.
too bad, so sad
