Matthew and Kelly Stafford said Thursday that they would support the photographer who was injured during the Super Bowl parade in Los Angeles.
Kelly Smiley, the photographer, wrote on social media, “Unfortunately I fractured my spine,” after she fell off the stage on Wednesday. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the Staffords have been in communication with Smiley and they would cover the medical expenses for her.
They would also cover the expenses for her damaged equipment.
In a video that surfaced after the incident, both Staffords had obvious gasps as they watched Smiley fall from the stage.
A GoFundMe account was also established to support Smiley. By Thursday evening, more than $43,000 was raised for that effort from more than 1,100 donations. In the description of the GoFundMe, Tim Kothlow, who organized the effort, wrote, “Kelly is loved by all who know her and is a well-respected individual in the photography community.”
Rams’ QB Matthew and Kelly Stafford announced they will be covering the medical expenses for Kelly Smiley, who fell off a stage during Wednesday’s Super Bowl parade and fractured her spine: “We have been in communication with Kelly Smiley … and we are sorry for what happened.”
