The Denver Broncos learned what happens if you leave Mecole Hardman open.
In the first quarter of Thursday night’s Denver-Kansas City game, Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes found Hardman on a crossing route for a 21-yard touchdown. The rookie out of Georgia briefly bobbled the ball, but securely hauled it in before heading for the end zone.

In The Checkdown’s tweet, you can hear Dallas Cowboys great Troy Aikman talking about how Hardman has impressed him just a few games into the receiver’s NFL career.

Unfortunately for Hardman and the rest of the Kansas City receivers, Mahomes was injured on a QB sneak and has been ruled out for the rest of the game. The Chiefs lead 20-6 in the second quarter.
Hardman, however, might not need Mahomes to make more highlight plays. He has already had one impressive punt return:
