Mike Bobo is a polarizing figure within the Georgia fan base.

The offensive coordinator, who is criticized by many, showed off a creative play call in the 1st half. Bobo deployed Dillon Bell for a halfback pass to Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint for an 18-yard touchdown pass to give Georgia the lead with 3:17 left in the 1st quarter at Tennessee.

Bobo has the Georgia offense averaging 40.6 points per game and 504.8 yards per game so far this season. That ranks 6th and 5th in the country in those metrics. For as much hand-wringing as Georgia fans do regarding Bobo, the production quiets the critics.

Bobo earlier this week was recognized as a semifinalist for the Broyles Award, which is given annually to the nation’s top assistant coach. Former OC Todd Monken was a finalist for the award last season before he took the same job with the Baltimore Ravens.

Bobo and Georgia are up 17-7 at Tennessee with 17 unanswered points.
