A Georgia native is heading back home to be a Bulldog.

Former Marietta Walton QB Austin Kirksey is transferring from Nevada to walk-on at UGA.

“He’s going to move back to Georgia to be close to his family,” Nevada head coach Jay Norvell told Nevada Sports Net. “Really sad to see him go. What a great kid. He’s like a straight-A student, an awesome young man and very close to his family. A great family.”

Kirksey has not seen any game action during his freshman season with the Wolfpack. Listed at 6-3, 205 pounds, Kirksey was a 3-star recruit in the class of 2019, rated the No. 59 pro-style quarterback, No. 170 Georgia product and No. 1,674 prospect overall nationally on the 247Sports Composite. In addition to Nevada, Kirksey had four other scholarship offers including FAU and UAB. He was also recruited by Texas A&M, but the Aggies did not officially offer a scholarship.
