Georgia’s depth continues to dwindle heading into the team’s upcoming bowl matchup against undefeated Cincinnati as senior offensive lineman Ben Cleveland has just publicly announced his decision to opt-out of the game.

Cleveland also notes he’s off to the 2021 NFL Draft and won’t be returning to Athens, as expected.

“This decision did not come easy, but after talking with my family and coaches, I know the time is now to take this step towards my future,” Cleveland wrote. “Football means the world to me, and I have dreamed about playing in the NFL since I was a kid. This has been a wild year with everything going on in the world, but I am healthy, prepared and ready for the next step.”

The senior offensive lineman joins linebacker Monty Rice, cornerback Eric Stokes and tight end Tre’ McKitty as opt-outs for the upcoming Peach Bowl.

Cleveland, who comes by “Big Country” around Athens, was named SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week after Georgia’s 45-16 win over South Carolina. He started every game for Georgia at right guard.

With Cleveland out, look for sophomore Warren Ericson or redshirt freshman Clay Webb to get the first crack at replacing the senior in Georgia’s offensive line.
