After not being selected in the 2021 NFL Draft, Jamie Newman was signed by the Eagles as a free agent.

However, the former Wake Forest quarterback and Georgia enrollee didn’t even make it through minicamp without being released by the team.

On Wednesday, Philadelphia announced Newman has been waived, along with former Florida receiver Trevon Grimes and receiver Khalil Tate.

Newman arrived in Athens with a ton of hype but never suited up for the Bulldogs after making the decision to opt-out leading up to the start of the 2020 season. Newman’s decision came after Georgia landed JT Daniels via the transfer portal.

During his time at Wake Forest, Newman completed 60 percent of his passes for 3,959 yards with 35 touchdowns and 16 interceptions.
