Many people expected Georgia running back Nick Chubb to bypass his senior season in favor of entering the 2017 NFL Draft.

Going against conventional wisdom, Chubb opted to return to Athens. He — along with Sony Michel — will help to make up arguably the best returning one-two punch at the running back position.

Many people are wondering why Chubb put his professional career on hold. In an ironic turn of events, Chubb admits that in-state rival Georgia Tech spurred on the decision. Following the Yellow Jackets 28-27 win in Athens Nov. 26, UGA’s junior running back took exception to way some of Tech’s players celebrated on his field:

In the loss against Tech, Chubb rushed for 88 yards and a touchdown. Chubb gets a chance at revenge next year — as the Bulldogs travel to Atlanta to take on the Yellow Jackets on Nov. 25, 2017.
