Georgia has looked like it can compete for another national championship this season, but it’s hard to evaluate just how good the Bulldogs are when they haven’t faced much real competition yet.

Besides South Carolina, which Georgia dismantled last week, the Bulldogs haven’t faced a Power 5 team and they will not play a ranked team until late October. Next week, they will face an Auburn team that lost to Texas A&M by more than 2 touchdowns.

After facing Auburn, Georgia will play Kentucky in what Paul Finebaum believes will be the Bulldogs first real test of the season.

“The next week may be interesting,” Finebaum said on the Matt Barrie Show on Sunday. “Kentucky comes in there after playing Florida, if they can get a win against the Gators. But we also fell for that game 2 years ago, it was a mess. Kentucky, at least they’ll be a legitimate team.”

While there probably aren’t many people picking Kentucky to drop the Bulldogs, the game will at least be a good measuring stick for Georgia. If the Bulldogs can get a blowout win against Kentucky, we will have a much better idea of just how good this year’s team is.
