Former Georgia QB Aaron Murray may be the SEC’s all-time leader in passing yards, with 13,166 from 2010 to 2013, but that collegiate success hasn’t transferred to the NFL.

Murray just completed his third season in the league, but has yet to throw a pass in a regular-season contest.

After spending the past season with the Philadelphia Eagles’ practice squad, Murray tried out for the Carolina Panthers on Tuesday, according to The Charlotte Observer.

Obviously, Cam Newton is the starter in Carolina, so Murray wouldn’t be competing for that job if he lands with the Panthers.

However, according to the report, Carolina’s two backups — Derek Anderson and Joe Webb — are both signed through the end of next season. Therefore, it doesn’t make much sense for the team to sign Murray.

Still, if Murray puts together a good tryout, it could help him land a new gig in 2017.
