Report: Giants tell Deandre Baker to stay away from team meetings amid legal troubles
Former Georgia DB Deandre Baker faces several serious allegations, including 4 counts of armed robbery, from an incident in Florida this past week.
He has surrendered to police and is reportedly out on bail. But, the New York Giants, who took Baker with the No. 30 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, aren’t going to welcome him back to the team just yet.
According to a report from Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News, Baker has been instructed to stay away from the Giants’ virtual team meetings until his legal situation is cleared up:
NEW: DeAndre Baker has been told to stay away from the #Giants’ virtual meetings for the time being and focus on his legal issues, according to a source familiar with the club’s thinking.

The legal process surrounding the charges against Baker are just getting started, so it’s no surprise the Giants don’t want him as a distraction in team meetings.
What does this mean for his future in New York? That remains to be seen.
