Rodrigo Blankenship had not missed a kick this season heading into the South Carolina game. The Georgia kicker was playing so well, the school recently started a Heisman Trophy campaign for the senior.

Well, the campaign didn’t last very long, as Blankenship’s miss lost Georgia the game Saturday in the second overtime as South Carolina shocked the Bulldogs in Athens 20-17.

Blankenship also had one of his kicks blocked against the Gamecocks.

Following the game, Blankenship was at a loss for words to describe his first miss of the season. Several times, Blankenship cited needing to go back and study the film and could not describe his emotions after the game.

“I really couldn’t tell you, I need to go back to the film room,” Blankenship said after the game.
