The top prospect in Georgia has yet to commit to make his college commitment, but on the recruiting trail he sure sounds like a big fan of UGA coach Kirby Smart.

Five-star CB Deangelo Gibbs of Loganville, Ga. is being recruited heavily by Georgia, along with Auburn, Florida, Ohio State and Tennessee, and sees Smart bring the Bulldogs success.

“They are on me hard,” Gibbs told 247Sports recruiting analyst Justin Hopkins. “I like them a lot. They are recruiting me very hard. Kirby Smart is coming in and recruiting the state hard, he is from down there in Georgia. I am from Georgia – it is in my backyard. I can go there anytime.”

Gibbs, rated as the No. 11 overall prospect in the 2017 class, sees Smart’s hard work on the recruiting trail paying off in a big way.

“Kirby Smart is building something special at Georgia, and in a couple of years, I think he will get the Bulldogs that championship,” Gibbs said.

Georgia last won a national championship in 1980 under coach Vince Dooley. UGA’s most recent SEC title came in 2005 under former coach Mark Richt.

The No. 2 cornerback hasn’t said when he’ll announce if he’ll be a part of that future Bulldogs championship team. UGA is considered the leader with Tennessee in second.

Gibbs will be going to Nike headquarters in Oregon next month to take part in “The Opening” finals, a competition camp featuring the top high school talent from around the country.
