What Kirby Smart said after Georgia's 43-14 win at Tennessee
Georgia had a bit of a slow start following its bye week at Tennessee, but the Bulldogs recovered and coasted to a 43-14 win on Saturday at Neyland Stadium.
Georgia trailed for most of the second quarter before Lawrence Cager and George Pickens made touchdown catches in the final two minutes. The Bulldogs then punctuated the win with a 60-yard fumble return for a touchdown by Tae Crowder with 4:39 remaining.
Georgia scored 33 straight points, and the win was Georgia’s 15th straight over the SEC East.
Georgia has outscored Tennessee 84-14 in its last two appearances in Knoxville.
The Bulldogs return to action next week against South Carolina in Athens.
Here’s what Kirby Smart told the media after the game, via 960 the Ref and Anthony Dasher:
- Every win is hard. Every team is a rival.
- We gotta run and tackle better. We gotta intercept it when they throw it to us. We put a lot of pressure on our secondary.
- Jake did a nice job distributing the ball. He got a lot of people involved. Swift, Cook, Cager. Cager has a good game as well.
- I’m proud of our fans. They showed out. I was impressed.
- We had a lot of dumb penalties.
- We’ve got to eliminate some of these errors.
- James Coley did a nice job changing things up.
- The team did a better job of mixing it up.
- Herrien ran tough. I got to mention Zamir (White) too; he ran hard. They fight for their carries.
- On Jordan Davis: “It’s a sprained ankle but I don’t think it’s as bad as the other guys.”
