Tennessee assistant Robert Muschamp is reportedly headed to join Kirby Smart’s staff at Georgia.

That’s according to AL.com’s Matt Zenitz, who says Muschamp will be joining the Bulldogs’ support staff.

Muschamp is the nephew of former Florida and South Carolina head coach Will Muschamp. The elder Muschamp has reportedly been visiting with the Bulldogs this offseason, but is not officially employed. He played for Georgia from 1991-94.

The younger Muschamp played tight end at Auburn from 2015-18 and is a native of Rome, Georgia. He was a walk-on for most of his career with the Tigers but was awarded a scholarship prior to his senior season in 2018.

He spent the last two seasons as a graduate assistant on Jeremy Pruitt’s staff at Tennessee, but evidently will not be retained by new coach Josh Heupel.

With the emergence of quarterback J.T. Daniels, Georgia figures to be one of the favorites in the SEC next season.
