Former Kentucky RB Ray Davis injured with ugly hit to the head in NFL playoffs
Former Kentucky running back Ray Davis was knocked out of the Buffalo Bills’ playoff game against the Denver Broncos on Sunday.
The RB was attempting to catch a pass out of the backfield and took a vicious hit to the head by the Broncos’ defender. Davis was immediately motionless on his back following the hit and the medical team was quickly out on the field with a backboard.
Thankfully, Davis was able to stand up and slowly walk off the field while flanked by 2 trainers. The former Kentucky standout went straight to the locker room to undergo testing.
Before having to leave the game, Davis had 1 carry for 3 yards on the day.
Davis has been a useful depth piece for the Bills in 2024. The RB took 113 carries for 442 yards and 2 TDs during the regular season and caught 17 passes for 189 yards and 3 scores.
The rookie came into the league as a 4th-round pick by the Buffalo Bills. Davis spent his final collegiate season at Kentucky where he rushed for 1,129 yards and 13 TDs. Davis also caught 33 passes for 323 yards and 7 TDs during his lone season as a Wildcat.
Before starring for the Wildcats, Davis spent 2 seasons at Temple and 2 seasons at Vanderbilt. The RB ended his college career with 3,487 rushing yards and 27 rushing scores.
Davis’ Bills are currently enjoying a 21-7 lead over the Broncos late in the 3rd quarter. It’s not yet known if Davis would be able to rejoin the team assuming they advance to the next round.
