John Calipari provides update on 3 key Kentucky injuries ahead of SEC Tournament
John Calipari and the Kentucky Wildcats earned the No. 3 seed in the SEC Tournament and, importantly, a double-bye in Nashville.
The Wildcats won’t play until Friday, which is good news for some injured players on the Kentucky roster, as they’ll have more time to heal.
On Monday, Calipari revealed that Cason Wallace, CJ Fredrick and Sahvir Wheeler all missed practice on Monday and won’t play on Friday unless they are able to return soon:
John Calipari says none of Kentucky's three injured players (Cason Wallace, CJ Fredrick, Sahvir Wheeler) practiced today.
"They're going to have to start practicing. It's not just, 'I'm good to go Friday.' You've got to get on the floor at some point and we'll see."

“They’re going to have to start practicing,” he said. “It’s not just ‘I’m good to go Friday.’ You’ve got to get on the floor at some point and we’ll see.”
Kentucky will need those guys to make deep runs in the SEC and NCAA tourneys this month. We’ll see who is able to play on Friday and who needs more time.
Calipari has made his disdain for the SEC Tournament clear from the get go. Given that the NCAA Selection committee doesn’t take it into account in seeding, Calipari’s antipathy for the SEC Tournament is warranted.
If the players need more time to heal, so be it, let them sit out the SEC Tournament.
