Rival SEC basketball fans have been quick to celebrate Kentucky's disastrous season
Would fans around the Southeastern Conference rather watch their team win or Kentucky lose?
That’s a tough question to answer if you take a glance at some of the feedback on Twitter following Kentucky’s latest loss on the hardwood.
The Wildcats lost at home to Arkansas on Tuesday evening, which dropped Kentucky’s record to 5-13 on the season and 4-7 in SEC play.
John Calipari’s team is currently in 11th place in the SEC following this loss and the only chance they have of advancing to the NCAA Tournament will be by winning the upcoming SEC Tournament next month.
Rival SEC fans certainly aren’t taking it easy on Kentucky, either.

No they aren’t the dominating team that many have come to expect from Kentucky, but having watched most (all?) of their games the last couple weeks they are starting to finally gel as a team. It’s a long shot, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see them run the table in the SEC tournament.
This year, they look like a bunch of college ballplayers trying to get together instead of the NBA farm team Cal “recruits” every year.
True and a bunch of us want college players in Lexington. It won’t last though, he has already recruited heavily for next year along with the transfer from WV. I’m not sure where the current roster is going. The NBA farm teams have had some pretty good success the past 12 years, but fan favorites are usually those guys that come back.
Not sure of the references to Musselman I am seeing. He is a good coach and a recruiter. Even Calipari failed to give any credit to Arky coming into Rupp and winning. Just excuses and “gotta review that last call”. Like he has never had a favorable call. But if knocking Kentucky down a few notches is what it takes to stop the stupid references about embarrassing loses to bad teams, then bring em on.
If there is a tournament. Kentucky has been a huge proponent of having no SEC tournament in years past. Now, I would like to know what there feeling is about a tournament this year.
Great question- with Cal’s arrogance, he’ll stick to his guns and still call it a waste of time. But secretly he knows it’s the only way he can glimpse a glimmer of hope to make the NCAA tournament… Part of me hopes they cancel the tournament just to prove the point. But as a UK fan, I’d love the story of having the talent come together and go on a run. Either way, realistically KY is done for the season imo
Only loosers kick people when thir down. Yea Kentucky is the dominant team we’ve come to expect but they’re still the Big Blue Nation. Remember dont poke a bear like Kentucky cause they are still the best basketbal program in this conference hands down.
Well them almost every poster on SDS is a “looser” because everyone has piled on UT. I get it. How much would everyone enjoy watching bama go 3-7 in football next season. Everyone but bama would.
Put a tampon in it and move on fuzzyvol.
Ah come on man. Post something worthing reading.
They got down on their knees to grovel and never got up.
Most veterans served so they had that right. I guess your you missed that in your service.
Anyway, didn’t they get up from kneeling and win at Florida by 20?
Kentucky basketball has been “Up” for long time now and other SEC teams fans are loving it. What goes around, comes around.
Other schools loving the down year for Kentucky, Duke and Kansas comes as no surprise. Its always that way when the top dogs fall, even for only a brief time. Too much history with those three. They will all recover quickly whether we want them to or not. So no one can be blamed for enjoying their struggles this year.
I hate it for the players, but as far as the program, other fans should absolutely enjoy this disaster of a season. Cal has earned every negative comment that he gets. In reality, you have a bunch of decent freshmen that are not as good as they were hyped to be. That is going to happen in Cal’s system. It just is. I do think that Cal’s overall level of success in having two underperforming teams in his tenure demonstrates that he’s not completely lost as some UK fans claim him to be, but I hope he makes a “tweak” to his own philosophy in how he recruits kids to fill out the roster moving forward…
Being a UK fan I hate it but being not that big of a cal fan it’s kinda good for him and to keep him from thinking he is immune to a losing season.but to all other sec fans enjoy this season and cherish it because as long as cal is at ky they wont be many like this.you can bet next year will be total different.if this covid stuff is over he will have a team ready to go next season.it’s hurt this team to being all freshman and not having all the extra time to gel with each other at end of summer and ky fans usually out number the fans they playing on the road and can help turn the outcomes of some of these close games they lost especially the home games.but not making excuses this team stinks no go to guy.guards just not that good and no true low post player.but i think that all canchange in one season at ky.most other schools need couple years to rebuild after such a total letdown but cal will be back on top
And some of us UK fans are celebrating right along with them.
