Kentucky lost some depth in its secondary on Wednesday.

Redshirt freshman cornerback Stanley Garner announced on Twitter that he has decided to enter the NCAA transfer portal. That means coaches from other schools can begin to contact him about transferring to their school.

Garner appeared in seven games for the Wildcats this season, but he recorded only one tackle.

Last season, Garner appeared in one game and used his redshirt. His lone tackle this year came in Kentucky’s second game of the season against Eastern Michigan on Sept. 7.

Garner, who is from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., was a 3-star recruit in the 2018 class. He committed to Kentucky on Aug. 16, 2017, then signed during the early signing period that December and enrolled early in January 2018.

Garner had offers from a lot of Power Five schools during his recruiting process, and he chose the Wildcats over a list of teams that included eight others from the SEC: Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, South Carolina and Tennessee.

Like there was during his recruitment, there should be plenty of interest from other schools in Garner about a potential transfer.
