One of Kentucky’s top defenders is coming back for the 2021 season.

Defensive back Yusuf Corker announced on Monday evening on his Twitter account that he would return instead of declaring for the 2021 NFL Draft.

“One of my main goals is to graduate in the spring with a degree in economics,” Corker wrote in a statement. “I also feel like another year with this coaching staff and our strength coaches will elevate my game and football IQ even higher.”

The junior has accumulated 151 tackles in his last 2 seasons, including a career-high 77 stops in 11 games in 2020, 2nd on the team only to Jamin Davis. He also added 2.5 tackles for a loss, a sack, 2 interceptions, and a forced fumble.

With the return of Corker, the Wildcats receive another boost to their defense in 2021. Defensive back Davonte Robinson, linebacker DeAndre Square and defensive end Josh Paschal have already signaled their intents to return to the program for their respective final seasons.
