Ahead of Saturday’s game clash with Tennessee, the Kentucky Wildcats got good news on the homefront. A wideout with Power 5 experience is heading to Lexington.

Taj Harris, a former 3-star recruit, announced on Twitter he is transferring to Kentucky.

A 4-year starter at Syracuse, the 6-foot-2, 172-pound wideout will have 2 seasons of eligibility remaining.

Harris played immediately at Syracuse. He earned starts in 7 of 12 games as a true freshman in 2018, hauling in 40 catches for 565 yards and 3 scores. The following year, Harris made 37 receptions for 559 yards and 2 scores. It was 2020 that proved to be Harris’ breakout season. The New Jersey native registered 58 receptions for 733 yards and 5 scores in 10 games and earned All-ACC honors. He had 16 catches in the first 3 games of the 2021 season before deciding to enter the transfer portal.

According to The Courier-Journal, Harris has declined to address why he decided to leave Syracuse so far. On Sept. 30, he tweeted “I know my worth” and then just days later, on Oct. 3, announced he would be entering the portal. Harris announced an offer from Kentucky just two days later.

He was on an official visit to Lexington this weekend.

It’s a huge win for coach Mark Stoops and another Power 5 transfer wideout to come aboard. Kentucky snagged Wan’Dale Robinson from Nebraska ahead of the 2021 season, and perhaps Robinson’s role was a strong recruiting pitch for Harris. The Wildcats have heavily featured the multi-dimensional wideout this season; he has 58 catches for 659 yards and 5 scores. No other Kentucky played has more than 19 catches. With the NFL potentially awaiting Robinson, Harris could step right in.
