Kentucky earned a statement victory over Alabama on Saturday afternoon in Lexington.

The 117-95 victory marked perhaps Kentucky’s best offensive performance of the season, as the ‘Cats scored 1.46 points per possession. UK has now won 3 of its last 4 games as it enters the home stretch.

After the win, ESPN’s Joe Lunardi updated his bracketology projection for the Wildcats. Lunardi now has Kentucky firmly as a No. 5 seed. Prior to the win over Alabama on Saturday, Kentucky was projected as a No. 6 seed.

The Wildcats are joined on the No. 5-seed line by Wisconsin, Clemson and Washington State.

Kentucky’s defense also showed some additional signs of improvement against Alabama on a per-possession basis. Despite giving up 95 points overall, Kentucky’s defense limited Alabama to just 1.01 points per possession when adjusted for opponent, per BartTorvik.

Kentucky still has multiple big opportunities to improve its résumé before Selection Sunday. The Wildcats have 2 remaining Quad 1 games in the regular season — both on the road at Mississippi State and Tennessee. UK could also face Quad 1 opponents in the SEC Tournament.

UK will be in action again on Tuesday night against Mississippi State in Starkville.
