Fans on social media couldn’t help but notice how favorable the Wildcats’ draw is. Kentucky’s 2nd round matchup, assuming they can get by Oakland on Thursday, would be NC State or Texas Tech.
The Wolfpack just finished up an incredible run in the ACC Tournament and Texas Tech is a middle-of-the-pack Big 12 school to hilariously oversimplify things. They both present their challenges, but it’s objectively a good draw for John Calipari and Co.
Past that, Kentucky’s draw compared to others continues to get better. Marquette is a dangerous 2-seed when healthy, but star guard Tyler Kolek’s status is unknown after he sat out of the Big East tournament this weekend with an oblique injury.
If you want to get really weird, Kentucky/Houston is where things get interesting. That is, of course, assuming everything works out with top seeds winning, which it almost certainly will not. The Wildcats high powered offense could put a chink in Houston’s tough defense, but who would come out on top?
Well, that’s why they play the game.
Big Blue Nation and CBB fans from across the country are optimistic about Kentucky’s chances. Here’s a look at some of the reaction to Kentucky’s draw on Sunday.
SOUTH: 1. Houston, 2. Marquette, 3. Kentucky, 4. Duke
That’s a pretty manageable bracket for the Cats to potentially set up a war with Houston for a spot in the Final Four. Arguably best O vs. best D in the country.

Kentucky has a sweet path toward the Final Four. Congratulations also to WKU and Morehead.
Don’t book any baby showers, grandparents birthday parties, or pickle ball tournaments for the next three weekends in Kentucky.

FWIW I think that Kentucky got a very favorable draw in the NCAA Tournament. Beat Purdue and you’re in the Final Four.

Just looking at the South Region, I guess the goal was to have a path to the Final Four for Kentucky? This bracket is hilariously easy compared to the East.
Houston or Kentucky will be the favorites coming out of this side.
