Mark Stoops credits defense for shutout, says Cats will continue to work on offensive line
Mark Stoops saw a big performance from his defense in a 31-0 victory over his hometown university, Youngstown State. But the Wildcats still need more from their offensive line.
The offensive line has been a concern for much of the season already even though the Cats are 3-0. Will Levis was 27-for-35 passing for 377 yards with 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. UK also had a lost fumble, and Stoops explained how interceptions are OK because they show aggressiveness, but fumbles are more difficult to forgive.
Kavosiey Smoke had a touchdown on 66 rushing yards, and Levis also scored on a rushing touchdown.
The Cats take on Northern Illinois next week.
Says Brad White’s defense “played outstanding, all game..
“Anytime you shut anybody out, it’s a big effort and a really big deal. Credit coaches/players for a complete game”
