Mark Stoops reflects on the end of Kentucky’s losing streak against Florida

It was the first topic that Kentucky coach Mark Stoops remembers being asked about at SEC Media Days in July — the Wildcats’ 31-game losing streak against Florida.
Luckily for Stoops, he won’t have to discuss that topic next year.
The Wildcats ended their long stretch of losses to the Gators this past Saturday when they earned a 27-16 win on the road.
“You go back the years, the years since I’ve been here, we had opportunities to beat them, it didn’t happen,” Stoops said during an interview on SiriusXM Radio on Wednesday. “You can’t dwell it, you can’t talk about it all the time. It’s too much pressure on the players. They understand that, they understand the importance of it.”
While Stoops knows it was great for his team to end this long losing streak, he also has other goals for the Wildcats.
“Heck yeah, it’s important, but so are the other 11 games,” Stoops said. “It’s hard to keep it all in perspective, but it was obviously a big win for us.”
Kentucky will look to carry over the momentum when it plays Murray State on Saturday at 12 p.m. ET.
