Kentucky coach Mark Stoops is one of the hottest names tied to a list of candidates for the recently open Florida State job. His time as a defensive coordinator at FSU is one of the main reasons for the connection, as well as his calm demeanor.

It was a popular topic among fans tuning into his radio show on Monday night as many wondered if he would address the topic. He addressed a possible move, but not in a way most expected.

“I’m seeing posts that you may be leaving for Miami,” caller Derek from Morgan County said. “Is there any truth behind that?

Stoops replied, “No, Miami doesn’t have a job open. So there’s absolutely zero percent chance that I’m going to Miami.”

Earlier Monday at his regular press conference, Stoops responded to a question about mentions in the college football media about him being a possible candidate at FSU.

“It’s something you don’t want to address during the season,” Stoops said. “It’s better than the alternative. For me, it’s 100 percent focus on Tennessee. With success, you’re going to have some of that. Coach Cal, every year he’s going to the NBA, right? I’m not going to get into speculation. I’m going to talk about Kentucky and Tennessee.”
