Reported Georgia OC target Eddie Gran announces he'll stay at Kentucky
Kentucky offensive coordinator Eddie Gran has made his decision. He’ll be calling the plays for the Wildcats again in 2019.
After being identified as a potential candidate for the Georgia offensive coordinator position earlier this week, it was reported Thursday that Gran had been offered the job. Gran took to Twitter to announce his decision, telling Big Blue Nation he is all in.
Kentucky is coming off its best season since Gran’s arrival in 2016. The Wildcats notched 10 wins, capped by off a Citrus Bowl win over Penn State. UK’s rushing offense ranked No. 6 in the SEC, averaging just a hair under 200 yards per game on the ground (199.38).
It appears Gran wants to prove he can do it without Benny Snell Jr., who is off to the NFL.
I’m all in, #BBN! Let’s do this !

UGA obviously didn’t want him… It’s the only reason he would stay at UK…. It’s the Kirby Effect.
My choice is still Coley. He’s familiar with the players and plays along with being a great recruiter.
Or maybe he likes his job? People turn them down all the time.
BT is a troll..Ignore him.
BB it was sarcasm…. what’s funny is a UGA fan with a UT screen name calling someone a troll… LMAO
Butch jones is available.
Grand Slam hire.
Butch Jones > . Pruitt
5-7, 4-8
4-8,5-7 = Douchebag
LOL
That’s funny. He just gave a big middle finger to UGA.
Better joke: Not making a bowl game since 2016.
Your the only joke on here.
UGA never offered a contract!
They didn’t have a chance to before he turned it down
No one has any idea what discussions have gone on concerning his employment other than him, his agent and the other parties involved. To pretend otherwise is just silly.
Yet anytime a name was mentioned in the slightest as UT OC everyone automatically assumed we offered and were turned down.
There’s not enough information to know anyone’s real level of interest or who turned down what.
0 for 1
0 for 3 against Vandy..
2 for 16 against the SEC..
0 for 2 winning 6 games..
Swing and a miss.
Funny a Tennessee fan talking about swinging and missing on hiring a coach! How many people turned down the Tennessee head coach job before Pruitt?
I don’t know the answer to that. Can you tell me the number since you must have been involved in our coaching search and know..?
What I do know is…. swing and a miss.
In your words: “buh buh but they didn’t offer a contract” hurr durr
1. David Cutcliffe
2. Mike Gundy
3. Jim Bob Cooter won’t interview for Tennessee job
4. Jeff Brohm
5. Dave Doeren
6. Kevin Sumlin
7. Mike Leach
Tennessee has parted ways with AD John Currie
8.Jeremy Pruitt
Eddie Gran
96-50
What does 96-50 even mean?
Dude, lets not talk basketball scores on a football thread.
Oh, basketball. I guess it’s ok to talk smack over women’s gymnastics scores too? I think you are on the wrong website.
Doesn’t support other teams at his school-got it. Sounds like a non-alumni band wagoner.
This is a football website dumass.
The coverage of other sports in the current and prior years would indicate otherwise, but please continue to resort to the ad hominem fallacy.
It’s primarily football but more of an SEC site than anything
I support all Vol sports. I am proud of the a$$ whopping the basketball team put on Georgia. I just think it’s lame to pull that out of your a$$ when we are clearly talking about football. It comes off as desperate.
Tonto-thanks Dad
Haha, so you were actually involved in the hiring process? Because you know who all turned it down, who all was interviewed, etc. And you have to know that the Kentucky OC turning you all down was “just a rumor”. Wow, you guys are the biggest dish!t fan base I have ever encountered.
The latest………………………
Georgia didn’t offer Gran the OC job – position coach duties were discussed.
That’s simply not true. No matter what some around UGA are saying as cover after he passed, there were veritable reports on all sides saying that the offer was made and that he declined. He frustrates me sometimes, but it’s a big deal that he is staying.
where are these veritable reports you speak of? All I see is one report from a Kentucky sports radio guy reporting! No other site has confirmed that report to be true! they all are reporting what that one guy said!
Late afternoon update> FootballScoop spoke with folks with direct knowledge of the situation and believe it is fair to say Eddie was contacted about a role on the staff at Georgia. Based on our conversations, it seems “offered” is a bit overstated.
Kentucky fans are more devastated than excited by his announcement to stay.
Sh!t not me. Losing Gran would have been a huge blow. I’m glad he’s staying.

I’m sure he made it up.
Just remember that SDS also reported how UK has, with Gran as OC,
“established a powerhouse running program than churns out 1,000 yard rushers”. Other than Snell, UK has had 2 backs reach 1,000 yards – this century…..
Pretty sure Football Scoop.com confirmed the report. They’re easily one of the most reliable sources on the web for this type of thing.
He had multiple 1000 plus yard backs at Auburn and Tennessee.

AS posted on the football scoop website.
I’ve heard from more than one person that Gran is a great coach and person. He’s likely showing his appreciation to the person that gave him his opportunity to be an OC. Classy move by staying.
Eddie Gran was an OC at few places before Kentucky. He was the OC for former Auburn head coach Tommy Tuberville at Cincy for three years before Kentucky. Those were some really explosive offenses at Cincinnati when he was OC.
Great coach, plus he has stability at UK.
SDS amazes me. This is a false story. Georgia did not offer the job to Gran. There was media speculation that he could be considered, but that was it. This is a Jimmie Sexton ploy to get Gran more money at Kentucky.
So you work in the AD? You guys ranted about how we offered freeze and bribes and others and got turned down without a shred of evidence. Now it’s your turn. You reap what you sew and many idiots like legends or Clemson time or whatever he is calling himself today have sewn a lot.
A local radio head this morning suggested UGA should go after Dooley. How about Dooley?
Georgia had interest in Gran for a assistant position, not coordinator and reports are all over this morning that the talks never reached an offer. Gran is not going to move for a demotion. Again, understand who Gran’s agent is and how he works.
Furthermore, I don’t even know who the “we” is you are talking about nor the “you guys” are. My guess is you are a disgruntled Tennessee fan tired of the dumpster fire your program has become who has suddenly realized you ended up with a guy at offensive coordinator who you couldn’t stand when he was in that position before.
It doesn’t matter what they were interested in him for. He is not going to UGA.
Precisely. My hunch is Coley already has the job since he was already co-coordinator and Smart is waiting to decide on a defensive coordinator to announce any changes.
Gran turned you all down. Bottom line.
Do you folks not realize that UGA already has an OC? Coley was promoted to co-coordinator after 2017 AND promoted to QB coach. Chaney was demoted to co-coordinator and TE coach. Why? Kirby wanted to keep Coley much more than he wanted to keep Chaney.
Who called the plays?
Chaney did. Which is exactly why Kirby was not about to match the $1.6 million that UT is paying.

If Coley was truly offensive coordinator, surely he would have been calling the plays. The bottom line is, it seems that most UT and UGA fans got what they wanted. Good luck to you and your Dawgs.
It’s official folks! Coley is our OC, period. It has been officially reported to the public by the UGA AD.
Now you can quit with the fake news!
Go Dawgs!
Gran tweeted to BBN that he is staying at Kentucky. Georgia fans appear to be insulted that a KY Coach does not want to move to Georgia
He made a wise choice. Leaves the door open for Mizzou to snag him.
I was waiting for KSR to announce the reason Eddie Gran declined Georgia, lol, yea right, because had heard that Jalen Hurts was going to throw his lot with the KENTUCKY WILDCATS! Gran, being declared one of the FIVE best offensive coordinators in college football, or at least that’s what the Lexington Herald said some one wrote. I’m sure we all could understand why Jalen was considering putting Gran at the top of his list to learn to be the best. I guess Oklahoma got lucky.
Gran, current OC at Lexington, led the Cats’ to 103rd best offense in the country, and the passing offense is just a little higher than that.
SO, did Georgia lose the opportunity to latch onto one of the top Fi-, you know or did someone in Lexington decide to take a little heat off Eddie so he can get a fantastic raise for fielding the 103 best —–, (you know the rest).
And one wonder why none of the transferring quarterbacks mentioned Kentucky in seeking to find a program to play for.
About time for the raises for football to be announced.
Eddie will do fine.
