Rick Pitino reportedly open to playing Kentucky in Lexington
Former Kentucky coach Rick Pitino is now back in the college coaching ranks, as he was recently hired at Iona.
That’s a step down from his days with the Wildcats and at Louisville, but he seems happy to be leading a college program again.
Recently, Pitino told college basketball insider Jon Rothstein that he’d be open to having Iona play the Wildcats in Rupp Arena and then again in Madison Square Garden as part of a home-and-home:
Rick Pitino tells me that he would take Iona to Rupp Arena to play Kentucky if the Wildcats return the game to MSG as part of a home-and-home series.
Also adds that Iona is aiming to play Minnesota next season at MSG thanks to a Wrestlemania bet with Richard Pitino.

Iona plays in New Rochelle, New York, so a trip down to Madison Square Garden wouldn’t be too far for the Gaels.
Would the Wildcats agree to such a home-and-home? It would certainly get the attention of college basketball fans everywhere.
